How To Properly Store Film And Digital Pictures
Pictures serve as reminders of precious moments in the past. They make for great entertainment pieces when people come over for a visit. That's why keeping them organized and well-preserved is key.
Luckily for you, technological advancements make photos last for a very long time. In particular, photos that are taken using a digicam. But what about those photos taken with a traditional film camera? Sure you need to worry about proper caring for prints and their negatives, to make them both survive longer.
But there are photography hobbyists and aficionados who still use conventional film cameras today. It simply has that certain charm that digital photography simply can not provide. So how do you make photos, both film and digital, live longer?
Let us start with proper storing of pictures taken via film photography. For sure if they're not in photo albums or frames, they're stored up in boxes. To prevent them from sticking to each other, place these boxes in cool and dry places. Also, it's a good idea to put each picture in plastic polyester films. Or you might want to separate them with paper lining that's acid free.
As with the negatives, keep them away from heat and light. Let them stay in those plastic cases given when you get your films processed. If you have lost the negatives of some of your pictures, worry not. Simply scan the pictures themselves in order for you to have digital backups. They will come in handy if you wish to have pictures reproduced.
Coming up with a scrapbook album is popular among many people these days. However, it's best if you instead use a copy of the pictures you use for this craft. If not possible, just make sure you store finished projects properly. Keep them away from dust, direct sunlight, moisture and excessive heat.
When it comes to taking care of digital photos, you will find it easier than film counterparts. You got plenty of options where to store files of digital photos. It's advisable to burn them onto a CD or DVD. Having two copies will ensure a backup should one fail.
Do not be contented with storing them on flash drives, memory cards and the likes. These could get corrupted, and your digital photographs are forever gone. Also, in the future, newer storage media will be introduced. Remember to upgrade where your digital photographs are stored as technology progresses.
A picture of your son donning a giro ski helmet during a skiing tour at the Alps is priceless. And so is a picture of your daughter with a tutu on her first ballet recital. That's why keeping memories alive by taking good care of pictures is very essential.
LIKE CRAZY Review (Rama's Screen)
GRADE: 2 out of 5 My most anticipated romantic drama this year doesn't live up
to my expectation. It's not the best relationship study you can find in a
movie but it's not necessarily the worst either. As far as the film's
immigration aspect is concerned, I think some of us could relate to this [...]
